Current Activities:
Dr. Augustine conducts research on punishment, law, and inequality, with substantive emphases on prisons, prisoner reentry, and employment. She is especially interested in working with and for groups at heightened risk of incarceration, such as those with intersecting vulnerabilities including people who use drugs, have serious mental illness, and/or experience homelessness. Prior to joining 菠菜网lol正规平台, she completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship with the Benioff Homelessness and Housing Initiative at UCSF and received her PhD in Criminology, Law & Society from UC Irvine. Dr. Augustine served as the President of the Board of Directors of the Orange County Needle Exchange Program and, prior to graduate school, she worked as a volunteer Reentry Advisor at San Quentin State Prison, helping incarcerated people create plans for their release from prison.
